FAMILY ministry

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Come join in the fun and connection of our Family Ministry!

Each Sunday, children of all ages are encouraged to start their morning with the congregation in the sanctuary. As we begin our worship celebrations, children are welcome to join us up front for a “Children’s Moment,” where we talk about a topic that is similar to what the congregation will hear about during the service. Children are then invited to attend Sunday School in other areas of the church, led by our qualified volunteers.

Our Sunday School program is all about teaching our young people to be disciples of Jesus through love, service, justice, and inclusion. Our lessons are based on progressive Christian theology that values openness, compassion, and abundant grace. Doubts and questions are welcome here!

We currently have two Sunday School classrooms: one for preschool, kindergarten and first graders, and another one for second through fifth graders. We are working on adding a Youth class (for sixth graders and above)!

Snack Packs

At First United Methodist Church, we are Intergenerational!

We believe that our lives and our faith are enriched when we connect with people of all ages. There are frequent opportunities for our young people, our elders and people of all ages to gather together in community.

Studies have shown that intergenerational church provides:
- Affirmed value, regardless of age
- A response to God’s call for faith to be shared in community
- Decreased isolation for all ages
- Supportive of families, for families
- A welcoming and inclusive environment
- Practice in caring for one another
- Understanding and unity as a congregation
