The choirs of First United Methodist Church and Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church team up for a community-wide singing event.  All singing participants will need to rehearse with the choirs on Saturday, Nov 3 from 10am-12pm. FUMC ANNUAL MESSIAH SING

Handel’s timeless work sung by the audience!  Eugene’s top vocalists and instrumentalists join the throng.  Make sure to bring your score, or you can borrow from FUMC’s collection.

New this year: Come at 2:15pm for an interactive examination of Handel’s Messiah, lead by conductor Paul John Rudoi.

THE OREGON BRASS SOCIETY
A Brassy Christmas

Oregon's only British-style brass band pours forth music of the season celebrating community.  OBS's distinctive array of brass instruments and percussion will fill this great venue with a warm, rich sound that sparkles, soothes the soul, and pleases the ear - and, yes. There will be marches!  Led by Dr. Chris Chapman, OSU’s director of bands, this all-volunteer ensemble, based in Eugene-Springfield, includes members from throughout western Oregon.

TWELFTH NIGHT CELEBRATION
Handbells Celebrate the Solstice

Award-winning musicians from Willamette High School join the FUMC handbell choirs to mark the turning of the year.  Soloists, small and large bell ensembles, belltrees and chimes work together to celebrate this ancient holiday. The annual concert features some of the best young instrumentalists in Eugene.

KING OF INSTRUMENTS
Hochhalter Organ Extravaganza

The Eugene Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents an Introduction to the King of Instruments. This fun program explores the music, history, and workings of pipe organs. Chapter members present a variety of music demonstrating this versatile instrument. While designed for the young and young-at-heart, those who think pipe organs are just for church hymns will be delighted.

The Concordia Choir

SPECIAL TICKETED EVENT.
Following The St. Olaf Choir’s sold-out concert last year, Concerts at First’s second annual choral showcase features The Concordia Choir under the direction of pioneer composer and conductor René Clausen.  Come to experience this consummate choral event.

Tickets are sold in advance on their website and at the door. $25 adult / $5 student. Open seating, so plan to come early (doors open at 6:15pm).

LENTEN EVENSONG
Featuring the UO Chamber Choir

The University of Oregon Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Sharon J. Paul, leads a contemplative service of music, scripture and prayer followed by a concert of choral music.

New this year: This year will mark the first annual Student Commission Competition, funded by The Hal Owen Commissioning Fund.  The selected winner will compose a new work to be premiered by the UO Chamber Choir at this event. For the official competition announcement, click here.
