Lent:
A time of Preparation
The season of Lent in our
church calendar is the 40 days before Easter. This time, like Advent,
is a time of preparation. We are preparing for Easter and what that
means as Christians. This season of preparation can be spent in
self-examination where we learn to live in a right relationship with God and
others. During this time, some people choose to fast or give up
something important to them. Some spend time in study, devotion and
prayer.
This year, I am going to
try to give God more of my time. I hope you join with me in giving
something up or taking something on for God. This Lenten season, I am
going to give 10 minutes every day and learn the spiritual practice of
centering prayer. Each Sunday in youth group, we will spend 10 min. of
quiet reflection of our week/life. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday which
this year, is Feb. 6th. I hope to see you at the service that begins
at 5:30 pm, as we reflect and prepare for Easter. |

Be the Change
Activities that are titled "Be
the Change" will either be discussion based, where we will learn about a
social justice issue, or volunteer work. Come on Sunday, March 2nd to
talk about places we can volunteer and again on March 9th, we will learn
about slavery while we watch "Amazing Grace." We are going to learn
and act on being the change we wish to see in the world.
