| As you enter
the sanctuary, you will receive a bulletin which describes the order of the
service. The services vary slightly in content, but the following is a
general description of what you can expect:
Prelude . . .
The prelude, music provided by the organ or
other instruments, gives worshippers an opportunity for private meditation
before we begin the worship service.
There will be a time for welcoming and
community announcements.
Singing God's Praise
. . .
We join together to sing praise songs
and hymns. While we are singing, you may fill out a prayer card (found
in the pew rack) - anything on your heart that you would like to offer up to
God during the prayer. You may sign your name on the card, but
it is not mandatory. During the 11:05 service, this is done during the
singing of the Prayer Hymn.
Sharing our Joys and Concerns . . .
During the singing, an usher will
collect all of the prayer cards. You may pass your card to the aisle.
A Time of Prayer . . .
One of the pastors will begin with a
general prayer, then proceed to the sharing of the prayer cards that people
have written. We end the prayer time with the singing of the Lord's
Prayer.
Special Music . . .
One of our many talented musicians or
choirs will praise God through music.
Children's Time . . .
Children of all ages are invited to
join the pastor in the front of the sanctuary for a special message just for
them. If your child is hesitant, feel free to join the group!
Following the Children's Time,
children ages Kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to leave the
service for J.O.Y. (Jesus, Others & You) Time - organized activities and
crafts for children during the sermon. There are also worship bags and
special worship bulletins for children in the back of the church for those
who choose to stay during the sermon.
Greeting . . .
During this time, we stand and greet
those around us - a time to meet new people and greet old friends.
Scripture Reading . . .
You may follow along with the
Scripture reading in the pew Bible (found in the pew rack) if you like.
Message. . .
One of the pastors will deliver a
message. Visit our Sermons page to read some
of the past sermons.
Giving our Gifts to God . . .
The ushers will come forward to
collect our offering. This is also a good time to fill out and
turn in the small Friendship card found in your bulletin. This helps
the church get to know you.
Celebrating Communion . . .
The first Sunday of each month, we
celebrate Holy Communion. Everybody is welcome to join.
If you walk down the center aisle, you will receive a piece of bread and
then dip it into a common cup (grape juice). On the side aisles, you
will receive a piece of bread and a small, individual cup of grape juice.
After you receive your communion, you may kneel at the front rail for a
moment of silent reflection and prayer.
Fellowship . . .
Please join us for coffee, tea and
donuts following both services. This is an excellent time to meet
people, fellowship with friends - old and new - and find out what's going on
in the life of the church.
Sunday School . . .
We have several Sunday School classes
during the school year for both children and adults. Classes meet between
services, from 10 am - 11 am. All are welcome. Visit our
Adult Education page to learn more about the
adult classes currently being offered.
Children . . .
Children are always welcome
during the service. There are worship bags for younger children and
activity bulletins for older children in the back of the sanctuary. We
also have a wonderful nursery for infants - 4 years from 8:30 - 12:15 on
Sundays and during other scheduled events. Visit our
Children's page for more activities.
