Concerts at First presents: The Cascadia Clarinet Quartet,
comprised of professional players from Eugene and Corvallis, in a highly eclectic program.
Sunday, February 7 at 4:00 p.m.
First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St. Eugene
Symphony members Carol Robe and Mike Curtis founded the quartet three years ago to highlight the many capabilities of the clarinet—from dixieland and klezmer to Brazilian samba and classical. Other members of the quartet are Nicoleen Willson, graduate teaching fellow in clarinet at the University of Oregon, and Erica Strandberg, a recent transplant from Alaska now playing in the Corvallis Symphony.
They will play works of Gershwin, Albéniz, Victoria, Paul Harvey, traditional folk tunes arranged by Curtis from Greece, Brazil, and Bulgaria, and even a jazzy version of Flight of the Bumblebee. Free will offering.
As members and friends of FIrst United Methodist Church in Eugene, we reaffirm our commitment to welcome all people as members of our congregation. We hold to a vision of an inclusive church with open hearts, open minds, and open doors. No one will be denied membership for any reason.
